Film Makers' Class
Script Writing
Every great film of course begins with
a great story. The basis of everything we do in this class will be built on writing a script with a great story that you can use your resources to realistically shoot.
Each student will write an 8 -10 page
script that will eventually be turned into
a short film, written and directed by YOU.
Producing
Producers are the engine of every great project. Producing is 'doing'. All the behind the scenes work that goes into take an idea and creating something from nothing is a producers job, and every filmmaker is also a producer.
Once you're done with your script, it's time to produce it into real life. Pitches, gathering a crew, all of that is producing. We'll learn the basics to get your film done. No more dreaming.

Casting
Casting of course is one of the most well known parts of filmmaking, and the most oft mis understood. Finding a great cast is essential to bringing your characters to life. Not to worry, we know plenty of great actors, and we can even use people you know or better yet...YOU.
In this part of the class, we'll cast all the parts you wrote with real people, and you'll sit in as the casting director of your own film. We'll film them, give them direction and you'll choose who you like best.
Directing
Film is a 'Directors Medium'. That means that it's truly the Director that's responsible for bringing it all together. We'll help you build the vision early on, and keep it till the film is finished.
You'll be on set running the show, and we'll be there to help of course. Directing will test all of your creative and analytical abilities and prove to the world you can be a filmmaker from the bottom up.
Editing
The last steps are often the most exciting. Taking all the pieces, adding music and life to your story is invigorating. We'll take you through the editing process, allowing you to make decisions with our editor all along the way.
Together we'll take your laptop all the raw footage, move it to a platform we can collaborate on, and start with a rough cut. From there we'll refine and refine until the story in your head has a name, credits and is ready to begin it's life as a film for a real audience.
The Silver Screen
Finally. The dream is alive, and you're ready to bring it to an audience.
Our screening will involve everyone you've ever wanted to invite and show them your masterpiece. In one magnificent night we'll show all the class films at The Box Indy Theater complete with popcorn and drinks! Give a speech, do a Q & A, talk about the film with your new fans. Walk away with a movie that's all yours. Where will you go from there? Now that you have the tools, you can go as far as you want! You're a filmmaker!
